Recreyo! Animated Chaos
I am a Scenario Writer for the animated comedy series, Recreyo!
Streaming on Rooster Teeth & VRV (merging with Crunchyroll), 100+ million views, 450k+ active subscribers on YouTube.
Recreyo! is a Dungeons & Dragons-style animated show, placing a cast of large internet personalities in challenging or bizarre role-playing scenarios where they'll need to work together and make a series of tricky choices to survive — collaborative “Choose Your Own Adventure.”
My Role:
Design and write unique branching narratives or multiple-choice scenarios that effectively utilize each cast member, giving everyone a moment to shine comedically.
Have an intimate understanding of the cast’s chemistry, individual members' comedic delivery, and the audience's relationship with the cast.
Write comedic dialogue, set up callbacks, and build lore.
Have a strong, up-to-date knowledge of pop and internet culture.
Write parodies (with love).
Write episodes to be used with paid promotions. Episodes listed below are sponsored pieces of content.
Episodes I wrote have been sponsored by AT&T, HBO Max, ExpressVPN, Audible, Raycon.
Write scenarios featuring special guests, including Rick & Morty lead animator, Hugo Blendl.
Watch My Episodes
Each episode of Recreyo! typically has one of the cast members taking the lead and serving as the host or “Dungeon Master,” so to speak.
This project requires me to provide a scenario structure that allows freedom of choice, exploration, comedic banter/bitting — while also having a beginning, middle, and end map to fall back on and re-focus.
Understanding each cast member’s personal comedic sensibility, relationship to the property being parodied, and natural delivery is key to crafting scenarios that play to their strengths, incentivize interesting choices, and subvert expectations.

How is writing a live Recreyo! scenario different from our regular episodes?
I’m writing for immediate response and participation — it’s no longer just the cast making these choices, it’s the audience too.
So, how did I crush it and produce a truly special, memorable live episode for the fans?
Understand what a live show means to the audience:
A live episode has to be a little more meta and self-referential to our library of content than a regular episode. We want to call back to a wider breadth of Recreyo!’s catalog. People are attending to share with other fans, in real time, the inside jokes they've come to love — share a special moment of shared knowledge. We're saying to fans, "Hey, remember when we (the cast and audience) went on these crazy adventures?" while taking them somewhere new.
The approach is: give the fans much-deserved acknowledgement for watching/validate them as part of a journey with the cast and not just a digit in a view count. I picked some fan-favorite moments/bits of lore and made sure fans could fan-out about them live, for example, Chilly being a ‘Raptor God.’ I also introduced a new character to the Recreyo! universe, ‘Wavy Paws,’ a pet dog who would make appearances in future episodes. This is a new reference that people were together for, again building the inside jokes — worldbuilding live — growing the fandom.
Bring the audience into the decision-making process:
Understand that each fan has a cast member they connect to the most — their “team.” I used my knowledge of how fans segment themselves between the cast and what their “team” personalities are to create friendly competition live. For example, CypherDen’s character is aggressive and will respond to confrontations with comedic, over-the-top violence. In contrast, Curt Richy’s character is the most sensible and conflict-avoidant of the squad (the “straight man”). So, the move was to design a scenario in which their opposing strategies collide, and the audience can join in on the arguments, egging each cast member on and engaging with their fellow fans live.
